CUT RESISTANT


The ANSI/ISEA 105 ASTM F2992-15 standard uses a straight blade to measure cut resistance on a 20 millimeter distance. This test ranges from cut levels A1 to A9 and is represented in grams. This scale allows for testing higher cut resistant materials and to more accurately categorize them for results up to 6000 grams.

EN 388

​

The EN 388, similar to ANSI/ISEA 105, is the European standard used to

evaluate mechanical risks for hand protection. Gloves with a EN 388 rating

are third party tested, and rated for abrasion, cut, tear, and puncture resistance.

Cut resistance is rated 1-5, while all other physical performance factors are rated 1-4.

PALM DIP

 

Nitrile Coated : Great general-purpose coating, which offers excellent puncture and tear resistance. Performs well in a wide range of temperatures. 


Foam Nitrile Coated : A “whipped” version of nitrile coating. Acts like a sponge to absorb liquids, providing a better grip than a nitrile coating.

Polyurethane (PU) Coated :

Excellent grip without being sticky. Great tactile feel, dexterity, stretch and strength.


Latex Coated : Provides high elasticity and tear resistance, with outstanding grip. Able to withstand extreme temperature

DISPOSABLES

​

Nitrile : Allergy safe compound that offers excellent dexterity, as well as outstanding chemical, puncture and tear resistance.

 

Latex : Made of natural materials that offer leading elasticity, dexterity, and fit. Suitable for use with some chemicals. (CAUTION: Natural Rubber may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.)

 

Vinyl : Economical synthetic plastic material providing adequate protections and good tactile sensitivity.

 

Polyethylene (PE) : Most economical material providing protection for light duty tasks with loose fit for repeated on and off.

 

Chloroprene : Exclusive neoprene blend providing outstanding chemical and puncture resistance

LEATHER

​

COWHIDE : Most popular and common due to its durability and abrasion resistance. Provides good insulation against heat with high puncture resistance.  


PIGSKIN : Most economical and light weight. Provides highest breathability due to porous texture and is ideal for wet applications.

 

DEER & ELK : Softest and most comfortable with high flexibility and dexterity. Highest durability and longest lasting. Excellent insulation protection against cold.


GOATSKIN : Very soft feel with high abrasion and water resistance due to its high lanolin content. High flexibility and dexterity

LEATHER TYPES :

 

Grain : The smooth outside top layer of the hide.

 

Split : The rougher inside layer of the hide when top layer is removed.


CUTS OF LEATHER :

 

Side : Provides most durable and longest lasting leather due to density of the fibers.

 

Shoulder : More economical and less durable than side leather due to increased movement in this area leading to less density in the fibers.

 

Belly : Most economical leather that is rarely used due to its lack of consistency and durability.
